I hope you are all well and have been enjoying the cricket season so far!
Summer Membership
Summer cricket started on Friday the 19th of April, you can still register for membership and join in on practice/matches. Membership will entitle you to a range of priority booking and discounts to courses, activities and merchandise throughout the year. Membership also offers further discounts for net hire and one to one coaching.
An annual subscription and training fee is £100.
To register as a member, please head to the MP Sports Cricket Academy website, go to the 'membership' tab and click on 'membership' in the drop down menu, or, follow the link below.
The most important information on the registration form are name, emergency contact, email address and medical details. You can create any username and password.
Matches
The matches for each age group have been going very well, all the teams have worked hard and done well in their groups.
The U9s have played 3 matches and won all 3 of their games, Best performance was Thomas Borgnis he took 5 wickets in six ball including hattrick , the U11s have only played 1 match and lost but did very well and the U13s have also only played one match and they lost by only 4 run, a very tight game where they all played brilliantly.
The matches have been affected by rain and so we will play more matches further down the line when the weather gets a little bit better.
Just a reminder that all the fixtures that have been confirmed are now on our website under the Events tab, if you hover over the events tab the dropdown menu will show you the different age groups which you just have to click to see the matches for your age group so that you can plan your summer ahead easily.

NOTE: You do not HAVE to be a member to join our courses, all are welcoming to our academy. However, becoming a member does give you a significant discount to all of our holiday courses and coaching.
May Half term Course
Next week we are running our May Half term courses and there are still a few places left if you want to join in the fun!
It looks like it will be good weather as well, so its an ideal chance to play outdoors in the sun and get some fresh air before school starts again!
You will be taught be ECB level 3 coach Manoj Parmar and its a 3 day course running from the 28th to the 30th, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Summer Holiday courses
Following the success of the last 38 years of Summer & Winter coaching courses, there will be 5 weeks of Summer holiday cricket coaching courses this year in July-Aug.
The First 3 courses will be running for five days and the last 2 courses will be for 3 days as detailed below, all taking place at the MP Cricket Academy Sports Ground.
Professionally qualified, played first class cricket in India for 11 years, Manoj Parmar assisted by other qualified coaches, will lead the sessions.
All the facilities of MP Academy will be available for use including training pitches, bowling machine, and Games equipment as deemed appropriate.
The courses are intended for children aged between 5-15 years.
The basic format of the sessions will be:
10.00 – 12.00 Cricket skills (fielding, batting, bowling use of Different Bowling machines)
12.00 – 13.00 Lunch (not provided)- Tuck Shop
13.00 – 15.00 Matches (including match coaching)
(if your child is below 10 years old but like to participate in hard ball matches please let me know on course day)
(if your child is 10+ years old but like to participate in soft ball matches please let me know on course day)
Please bring your own lunch and drinks (drinks can be refilled at the ground)
Fathers day fun match
On Fathers day the 9th of June, MP Sports Development Trust is planning a father and son/daughter match at the MP Sports Academy Ground.
If you want to take part it is £10 as a match fee, but you do not need to be a member to participate.
We will play from 10am to 4 pm so that in the evening people can go home to be with their family to have dinner.
The teams will be mixed and we will decide the teams on the day to make it a fair game, each pair will get 4 overs to bat and score as many runs as they can.

Festival of Cricket
We are planning to do a festival of Cricket in the Summer for the following age groups; U15, U13, U11. The idea is to play several matches all day in a round robin like tournament to allow more kids to play more matches and have more opportunity to face diiferent oppositions, this would take place on a Sunday and would be for members of the academy only (to play for our team).
We will update you with what date the tournaments will be, so make sure to keep your notifications on.
Would you like to work for MP?
MP Sports Paid: We are currently looking for an admin assistant to work either at home, or in the office in Thame for 6 hours a week. Duties would include general admin work; typing and sending emails; filling and creating forms; writing monthly newsletters; helping with event planning. If you would like to learn more about this role or would like to apply, please let us know by return email or feel free to come and visit us in the shop in Station Road.
We would be pay you around £12 an hour and you would work approximately 6 hours a week.
Voluntary: We are also looking for somebody to organise academy fixtures for our under 9s, under 11s and under 15s teams. This can be done from home.
Voluntary: We also require someone who has some free time to help water the Willow trees at the ground, they have been growing very nicely over the last few years and that is without doubt thanks to our volunteers who want to remain nameless. Voluntary: Unfortunately Julia will no longer be able to continue with her safeguarding role from next year onwards, therefore we need someone to take her place as our safeguarding officer. if you are interested please do email us and let us know.
Sponsors/Investors
We are currently in the process of looking for sponsors/investors. After the loss of our generator, which was stolen a few years ago, we are looking to get the MP Sports Cricket Ground connected to the grid. Unfortunately, this is no small task and we have been quoted £6,500 for the connection alone. This does not cover the cost of the groundworks and the electricity kiosk that we would need to connect it to.
Founder and Director, Manoj Parmar is an ex-first class cricketer from Saurashtra in India. Mr Parmar's main aim is to inspire future generations of young cricketers to achieve their maximum potential and to help children become more active. For the past 36 years, he has worked tireless to offer a high-quality coaching and competition programme in and around Thame. He is determined to introduce children to the world of sport and offers a vast array of sporting opportunities at the ground. MP Sports Cricket Academy offers a comprehensive list of activities throughout the year including, indoor cricket matches during the winter; soft and hard ball practice; international courses; and diving catch practice at the local pool. The ground currently boasts two full sized cricket grounds and has brand new grass nets. Since its creation in 2009, the club has continued to grow, supporting 27 state schools in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and catering for children as young as six, up to adult. The academy has a membership of over 100, with 400 children attending cricket camps over the summer. Clubs from across the county attend tournaments throughout the year and cricket teams/companies rent the ground for private matches and corporate events.
