MP Academy Visited Lord's Cricket Ground for Test Match. England V India on 19 th July Saturday
Local young cricketers got their first taste of the buzz and excitement of International cricket at weekend when MP Academy took 32 of its young players to Lords to see the third days play of the 2nd Investec England vs India Test Match. At the start of the day they met the mayor, who had come to send off the children to the match. As part of the sell-out crowd of 30,000, the young players watched in awe as Liam Plunkett both scored his maiden test 50 and took two wickets in two balls as well as stunning catches from both Joe Root and Matt Prior.
Manoj Parmar, who runs the MP Academy once coached Indian batsman Pujara (who scored 43 runs in the afternoon session) back in India when he as a young player. MP players not only got to meet him but also got first-hand insight of what it will take to one day play for England.
At the end of the days play the match was firmly in the balance and the MP players were buzzing with the excitement of the day. In addition to the cricket players received coaching tips, the chance to hit a few balls in the nets, a Q&A session with ex-England captain Mike Gatting and added to their autograph collections. An inspirational day that will hopefully stay long in the memories and hopefully the cricket careers of many of the MP Academy players.
