Sports in then Street
Sports in the Street!
On Friday the 3rd of June, in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, MP Sports Development Trust and MP Sports Cricket Academy hosted 'Sports in the Street' in Thame High Street.
It was a gloriously sunny evening, and the event was well attended, by people from across Thame and surrounding villages. Chief guests, Mr David Turner (SODC Chairman), Mr Paul Cowell (the Thame Town Mayor) and Janet Wardall (Oxfordshire County Council Chair) opened the event and the sporting activities commenced after a rousing rendition of the national anthem.
There were many sports on offer and many clubs in attendance. Thame Hockey Club wowed the crowd, giving many a first taste of their sport, even the Town Mayor. This resulted in some great new signups. Sandra Brooks Fitness took several energetic silent Zumba sessions and had the crowd literally dancing in the street, even special guest, Janet Wardell. Host, Manoj Parmar, did an exciting 'wipeout' style warmup, and the children had a great time learning how to play cricket, some for the very first time. The chief guests also showed off their skills, with cricket in the car park.
Thame Tennis Club and Racquets Fitness Centre were there to represent the incredible array of racquet sports available in Thame and visitors had the chance to hone up their squash and tennis skills. Thame Cycling Club also made an appearance, helping to make Sports in the Street 2022 a great success!
