July Newsletter

Dear All
Welcome to the July Newsletter from MP Sports Cricket Academy.
This has been another busy month with the continuation of the Aylesbury District Midweek Cricket League (ADMCL) and lots of activity at the ground.
Thankfully the weather has continued to improve, and we have been able to play most of the games on the fixtures list.  Our under 9s, 11s and 13s have played very well, and, I am pleased to say, our under 11s recently won two matches in a row.  This is an excellent result, keep up the good work!
Father's Day Match
On Sunday the 18th of June, MP Sports Cricket Academy was invited to a Father's Day match against Bledlow Village at The Bledlow Oval.  This was a fantastic event where fathers and sons got to play together and even the Grandfathers joined in.
Bledlow Village won the toss and batted first.  They scored 235 all out in 38 overs and we chased a total 9 wickets down.  It was a beautiful event in the Buckinghamshire countryside with the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Steam Railway as a backdrop to the game.  Everyone got a chance to bat and bowl in a match situation and everyone had a wonderful time.
We would like to thank Bledlow Village for hosting the event.
John Hampden Sports Day
On the 19th of June Manoj was delighted to attend the John Hampden's school sports day as part of the MP Sports Development Trust.  The Trust is a charitable organisation , set up to encourage young people to play more sport.  The children got to play some matches, had a go at the very exciting wipeout style 'helicopter game' and overall learnt more about cricket and living a healthy lifestyle.
1st Thame Cub Scouts
On the 27th of June we were happy to welcome the 1st Thame Cub Scouts to the ground for an evening of cricket practice and games.  The cubs had a wonderful time and the evening ended with two cubs being invested.
Summer Holiday Courses
Unbelievably there are now only a few weeks left until the summer holidays and that means MP Sports Cricket Academy summer courses will be starting soon.
Camps run throughout the summer holidays and are a great way for children to stay active, play cricket, meet with friends and have fun.  Each course runs for three days (as detailed below) and is aimed at children from age 5 - 14.  Manoj Parmar, an ex first class cricketer and level three coach, will be coaching each course and children will have the opportunity to play soft and hard ball cricket, use grass and astro nets and bowling machines.  Each course ends with a water fight depending on the weather.
Courses generally follow the timetable below:
10:00 - 12:00     Cricket skills (fielding, batter, bowling)
12:00 - 13:00     Lunch (not provided) and tuck shop
13:00 - 15:00     Matches

(if your child is below 10 years old but like to participate in hard ball matches please let me know on course day)

(if your child is 10+ years old but like to participate in soft ball matches please let me know on course day)
