PRESS
RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 12.06.2017
“Sport in the Street”
to ignite passion in the local community.
On Friday 23rd June sporting
clubs in Thame and the surrounding areas will come together for a “Sport in the
Street” event in order to get more of the community
involved in sport.
The idea
came from Manoj Parmar, and his wife Hema who run MP Cricket Academy in Thame.
“Our lives were completely changed
by sport and we want to help others see that sport is a great opportunity to
not only improve health, but also create a sense of fellowship and to have
fun.”
Parmar
himself was a professional cricketer in India before moving to Thame and
setting up his business MP Sports.
Last year
he and Hema created a “90 Not Out” street cricket event to celebrate The
Queen’s 90th Birthday, which gained recognition in the form of a ‘thank you’ note from The Queen
herself.
The event
was so successful that this year over 15 local sporting clubs can’t wait to be
a part of it.
The event
will take place in Thame High Street between 6.30pm and 9pm. There will be live demonstrations from the sports
clubs, a steel band for entertainment, certificates for children who
participate, and free gifts from sporting clubs such as tennis balls and
shuttlecocks.
