Dear parents and cricketers
I hope you are all well and enjoying the start of the season.  We have been unfortunate with the weather so far and a few of our ADMCL matches have had to be rescheduled due to waterlogged pitches.  We are ever hopeful that the sun will make an appearance soon.
ADMCL matches
All of the matches for this season are now on the MP Sports Academy website and we will let you know in advance if there are any cancellations or changes.  Despite the weather, our under 9s, 11s and 13s teams are doing very well in the league so far.
Coronation Cup
After the torrential downpour on coronation day, we were surprised to have such good weather on the Sunday for the King's Coronation Cup which, although delayed, went ahead as planned.  The team at MP Sports worked incredibly hard that morning to get the ground ready for the day and at 12pm our visiting teams arrived.  We were pleased to welcome under 11s teams from Taplow and Marlow.  MP Sports Academy did very well and made it through to the final with MP's very own Henry getting man of the match.  Marlow went on to win the trophy in the final.
At the end of the tournament there was an exciting 'Sky High' competition.  This is a catching competition where cricketers are invited to catch a ball which has been hit into the air with a tennis racquet.  Marlow, who were on top form that day, won the Sky-High competition and received another trophy to add to their collection.  At the end of the day all participants were awarded a Coronation Cup medal.
Well done to all the under 11s who represented MP Sports Cricket Academy.  You played very well, and we were very impressed with your sportsmanship and dedication.  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us on the day with the BBQ, music and preparation of the ground.  We really appreciate your time and help.
Primary School Tournament
On the 16th of May we invited local primary schools to participate in a summer cricket tournament - the MP Sports Development Primary School Tournament.  This was specifically for children in years 3 and 4 and we had a huge number of entrants from schools across Thame and the surrounding villages.  Six teams took part, the sun was shining, and everyone had a fabulous time.  A team from John Hampden went on to win the tournament and each child won a special medal.  It was great to see so many keen cricketers!  Pictures of the day can be found by visiting our Facebook page.
May Half Term Courses
May half term courses are fast approaching, and spaces are limited. The courses will be held on the 30th and 31st of May and the 1st of June and will run from 10 till 3pm with an hour-long break for lunch.  All the facilities at MP Sports Academy ground will be available to use, including the marquee, cricket nets, grass pitches, bowling machines and games equipment.   Courses consist of batting, bowling and catching practice as well cricket matches and other games.  Boys and girls of 5-15 can attend, with soft and hard ball practice being offered depending on your child's age.  Courses can be booked in full or just one or two days, whichever is convenient.  For members the cost of the course will be £100; £110 for non-members or £40 a day.

Crowdfunding
We are currently crowdfunding to get a permanent power supply for our ground.  Last year, the MP Sports Academy generator was stolen, and we haven't been able to replace it.  As the ground is some distance from the town centre, the cost of an electricity hook-up is estimated to be in excess of £10,000.  Having a permanent electricity supply at the ground will enable us to provide lighting and install CCTV, it will also help us move forward with proposed plans to build a cricket pavilion.  This will be of benefit to the whole community and will be a great asset for Thame.
There are several ways in which you can help us reach our £10,000 target:
  • Share, share, share!  The more we share, the more likely we are to reach our target.
  • Make a pledge.  Any and all donations, however big or small are gratefully received.
  • Donate awards.  A donation of goods or services can be offered to our supporters as rewards.
  • Fundraise for us.  If you would like to fundraise on our behalf - maybe by doing a sponsored event etc, please head over to our Crowdfunding page and hit the 'contact project' button at the top of the page to let us know.
Our crowdfunding page can be found using the link below.

Thank you for reading and for all your support.
Kind regards
Julia
