News Letter - February 2023

Dear Parents/Cricketers
I hope you are well and that you've had an enjoyable half term.  Please find below our February newsletter with an update from MP Sports Cricket Academy and MP Sports Development Trust.
Coronation Cup
After the success of last year's Queen's Platinum Jubilee events, MP Sports Development Trust have decided to help celebrate the King's coronation on the 6th of May by organising a series of tournaments. Our aim is to run a tournament every month to promote sports and to get people active.
On the 7th of May we have invited clubs from across the country to join us for an under 11s Coronation Cup.  This has been very popular and so far, we have 4 confirmed teams.  All participants will receive a coronation medal and the winning team will receive the coveted Coronation Cup!
We also plan to run an under 13s Coronation Cup in June but the date of this is yet to be confirmed.
On the 16th of May we are also running a cricket tournament for primary school children in years 3/4.  Several schools have already put their names forward and we look forward to welcoming them to this exciting event.
Badminton Tournament
On the 24th of March, MP Sports Development Trust are running a badminton tournament for children in years 6, 7 and 8.  This tournament, which is free to enter, will be held at the Thame Leisure Centre from 6-8pm and will be a great opportunity for children to participate in a sporting event, to get active and to have fun.  Badminton is also a great way to improve hand to eye co-ordination, which is important in a variety of different sports.
All entrants will receive a medal for their participation and the winner will receive a trophy.
If you would like to put yourself forward, please send your name, school year and parent's telephone number to www.mpsportsdevelopmenttrust@hotmail.com.  We would also love to see some parent volunteers!  If you could spare a few hours on the 24th of March, please let us know by heading over to the MP Sports Development Trust website and going to the 'volunteers' page:
This event is free to enter, but if you would kindly like to make a donation, please visit our website:
Volunteers
We would like to say a big thank you to the two parents who offered to help us look after our baby willow trees in March.  With over 100 trees there is a lot of watering to do, and we are very grateful for the help.  We are always looking for volunteers and appreciate any amount of time you can offer.  All league matches are now fixed, and we would love to hear from any volunteer managers for our under 9, 11s and 13s teams.   If you would like to help out in any capacity, either during league matches or at one of our tournaments, we would love to hear from you.  Volunteers are vitally important to us and help us continue to offer such a high-quality coaching and events programme for Thame.
Sponsorship

We are now looking for sponsors for 2023 and would be delighted if any parents/companies would consider supporting us.  Sponsorship is a great way to introduce a company to new customers and to advertise products and services.  As a cricket academy we have a large mailing list, and, with charity tournaments and match games hosted at our ground, we attract clubs and cricketers from across the country.

Our primary aims are to promote cricket, get children active and to offer opportunities for children to play.  We would like to offer these opportunities to all children, irrespective of their financial status or background.  This year we have a packed schedule of coaching, cricket tournaments and charity events.  Sponsorship is vital in helping us to continue to offer such a broad variety of activities for the children of Thame and across Oxfordshire.   Without the support of local businesses, we would be unable to continue to offer the variety of events that we do.

We offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities ranging from set packages to tailor-made sponsorship.  If you or the company you work for would like to support us, we would love to hear from you, either by return email, by telephone (01844212226) or you are more than welcome to pop into MP Sports shop in Station Yard for a chat.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Indoor Cricket Coaching
Cricket coaching is due to start this Sunday, the 26th February and will run every Sunday until the 26th of March.  All coaching will be taken by Manoj, who, as you know, is an ECB 3 level coach.  Spaces are limited for safety reasons so, if you would like to join us, please do let us know.   If you haven't trained with us before, please visit our website and fill out the form.  Soft ball practise will run from 1-2:30pm and hard ball practice will be from 2:30 till 4pm.
Easter
With Easter fast approaching, and the weather (hopefully) improving, it's time to think about Easter Cricket! Outside courses start from the 3rd of April.  If you would like to get a bit of professional cricket practice in before the start of the season, or you would like to learn something new, please head over to our website (link at bottom of email) and fill out the booking form.  We look forward to seeing you there.
Upcoming Dates for your diary
Please keep your eyes peeled for any updates on the following events:  Diving catch practice will hopefully start again in March, but we are waiting for confirmation from the pool.  We are also waiting to confirm the date for our trip to Lords - more details to follow.
